A former queer activist from Norway has pleaded guilty in a London court after carrying out castrations and livestreaming the footage as pornography to a paying audience over a span of six years. Marius Gustavson, 46, uploaded recordings of the illicit surgeries to his ‘Eunuch Maker’ website, netting up to £200,000 from subscribers.

What was "illicit": the genital surgeries or the live stream? To the best of my knowledge, there is no statutory law against male genital mutilation, in any jurisdiction. If the UK court has invoked common-law or human-rights principles, then what exactly is the purpose of the criminalisation of FGM? If male genital mutilation is "illicit" even if performed among consenting adults, then what about non-consensual, non-therapeutic amputation of significant portions of the penile skin system? In Anglophone societies there are no specific laws, regulations, or even bioethical guidelines to prohibit the commercial exploitation of male foreskin (etc.) amputation and harvesting.
