I spoke with Isabella from Whose Body Is It about the connections between adult male paraphilias (also called fetishes) and the use of drugs euphemistically called “puberty blockers” being given to children, with a particular focus on Lupron, the most commonly prescribed “puberty blocker” in the US.
During my presentation, I point to the experiments on children done by psychologist and sexologist John Money, which included, among other abuses, showing pornography to children when inquiring about their “gender identity”. I also point to the male castration fetish, which is seen in transgender pornography, erotica, and online forums such as Reddit. A technical term for this is Skoptic syndrome, which was previously listed under gender dysphoria in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM IV). The word “Skoptic” comes from the Skoptsy, a Russian Christian cult that reached its height in the early 20th century, known for the practices of castration of males and mastectomies for females, which were considered a rite of passage towards the elimination of sexual desire in order to reach a divine state.
Men who claim a transgender identity discuss their various paraphilias openly in forums and urge each other to castrate either through surgical means, such as orchiectomies, or through the ingestion of female hormones, as a part of sadomasochistic sexual practices associated with BDSM.
My three main points are:
The origin of theorizing about a “gender identity” is rooted in adult sexuality, pornography, and child medical and sexual abuse.
Children are being used as pawns to normalize adult male sexual paraphilias, and children and teens are being medically “castrated” as a result.
Women are being redefined as “castrated” males, a concept promoted in BDSM practices and pornography.
There is an under-researched phenomenon of men, and even teen boys, consuming pornography and experiencing penis dysmorphia and confusion about their “gender identities”. This is well-documented in forums such as Reddit and FetLife, an online fetish community. There is another under-researched phenomenon of such men seeking to become the pornography, as they advertise their “feminized” bodies on platforms like OnlyFans, where the demand for men with breast implants and cosmetic surgeries has soared in recent years.
This is causing a feedback loop: womanhood defined as pornography, and girls seeking to escape womanhood via surgery and hormones. Women have been so objectified and commodified, through pornography, sex trafficking, and surrogacy industries that the notion of womanhood itself as a product is taking hold in consumer cultures. The belief that womanhood can be achieved through the purchasing of surgeries and drugs is fundamentally a belief that womanhood is for sale. The intrinsic value of women, in this view, comes not from her own self-worth, but from the resources men can extract from her flesh: therefore, she is treated as a commodity, and transgenderism can be seen as a form of commodity fetishism.
The narrative of the “transgender child” is a fabrication, based in homophobia, misogyny, and adult sexuality that is used to rationalize and normalize paraphilias. Children are being mentally and physically abused to this end.The drugs euphemistically referred to as “puberty blockers” are castrating chemicals which forever alter a child’s development and can lead to permanent sterilization. Effects of interfering with the puberty of boys have been known for decades, if not longer, as can be seen in bone analysis of skeletons of eunuchs such as the castrati, and the effects of Lupron on women’s bones and reproductive systems has been known since the 90’s.
Crucially, the drug rebranded as a “puberty blocker”, Lupron, is only given to men to chemically castrate the worst male sex offenders, or to treat terminal cancer; it is however, given to women for a myriad of under-researched “women’s issues” and increasingly to gender non-conforming children. Pornography and male sexual fetishes are at the root of gender ideology, and the motivation to normalize these sexual practices is driving medical experimentation on women and children.
While the article is spot on - including the necessary pointing out that "puberty blockers" are no such thing - I disagree with the attribution of male paraphilia being the root of gender ideology.
While practitioners of kink (& worse) have certainly gained elbow room to flourish in this athmosphere I don't see how they was present at the birth of the ideological movement. They are fellow travellers - because their train is going to the same destination - not because they boarded it together at the start.
Perverts have always been around but their enabling ideology is new. It is an embarrasing skeleton in Feminism's closet but I think early attempts at liberating women from gendered constraints unleashed what is happening now. (Particularly when mixed up with reality-denying PoMo bunk and set within the Marxist oppressor/victim dichotomy).
Gender ideology is effectively anti-essentialism taken to an ideological extreme. That's why it has been sold as liberating for women and why mainstream Feminism has obliviously run with it. It has been well pointed out that it is contradictory since it requires the holding-up of essentialist gender norms so those ostensibly defying their "gender" can switch sides and "perform" the other.
Opening the door for women to get out of the gender-role room door allowed traffic in the opposite direction. The motivations were different - for women it was meant to be accessing equality, for the men sneaking back the other way the motivation was sexual. Originally a trail of HSTS small enough to ignore, later a stampede of AGPs. That's the moment gender ideology and paraphilia joined forces.
